^_^  But I don't eat Durian (cause of the smell, i hate it)... When I was in Davao, while walking near Marco Polo Hotel, I've seen lots of them in Fruit Stands in the sidewalks and in Malls, too. But I preferred to buy Pomelo (Suha) instead, there are plenty of them along w/ Durians and it's yummy, too.

Why 09-09-09 is so special? That's a question in an article i read over yahoo news today. And of course for me, It's special cuz it's my best friend's birthday! What's her plan for today, No idea yet. It seems a surprise ^_^ We'll find out later. If there will be party or simple get-together w/ family and some relatives and Friends,too. I sent her lots of msgs earlier ( I always luv to, i am selfish sometimes that i always want to occupy her whole inbox as well as her FS page)..

I'm back from few days of being sick. High fever and painful throat that even water is difficult to swallow *sigh*. So, few days ago i've been avoiding sweet foods and cold drinks which i strictly didn't follow ^_^ jk -- I Bend rules sometimes, but i had eaten enuf fruits,too. And medicines every 4 hrs...usually, I missed. But even when it's on the 5th hour, I still take it.

But I am 99.9% OK now. A super duper lil ouchie left on throat but i was already eating Curly Tops earlier ^_^ but i drink lots n lots of water after. And i was eating Ice Cream too ...

Anyways.. I was watching Butterfly Kisses MV. I missed this song. This song always makes me cry. When I am so sad, i listen to this song or My Destiny (Trish Thuy Trang) - It's an english version of Du Jiao Xi (Valen Hsu).

Last night we watched this movie " And I Love You So". It was good, so touching. It was  a movie u should watch. If you're married,it will make u appreciate marriage life more. And if you're in a relationship, it will give u lessons. It was a story abt life and love, and moving forward and letting go. I nvr got so emotional w/ it though most scenes could make u cry (it's cuz my friend was aslept, and sorry no cams allowed so wasnt able to take pic).. When i got teary eyes alrdy, i turned to my right and one was sleeping , then i turned to my left and then we had to laugh again. Hmm, i was out of focus.

But i didnt forgot some parts of the movie. It was her conversation with the guy's mom and she said

**If i could have 5 minutes, 5 years or 5 more lifetimes w/ him** ( cause 5 months after they got married the guy died) .

* I'm so sorry if he died  and i lived.

* You may have loved him longer, but that doesn't mean i love him any less, I will love him for as much as i could* 

 Anyways, i think  have to watch it again.

This one is my most fave piggy i have, one time it was taken away by a 2 yrs old baby , he cried for it and took it home. I felt so sad but his grandma returned it the folowing day. - Below is the pic of that cute baby who used to visit our hauz and play w/ piggy.

My son & I both lost our fathers within 2 months of each other.  Josh's Dad died of cirrhosis of the liver in Nov. '95.  Josh was 15.  His Dad was only 39.

My Dad had lived a long life & was 87 (I think) in January '96 when he passed away.  He was in a convalescent home & we knew he wouldn't be around too long.  But it was still a shock when it happened.  Fortunately we had about 12 hours "warning" from the nursing staff & I had a chance to get there and say goodbye before he left.

I tell you this as an explanation of why we haven't celebrated Father's Day for about 14 years.  It's just something we sort of ignore when it comes around.  But the commercials & newspaper ads don't let you "just skip it".  You're inundated with messages for almost a full month before the big day arrives.  So I can't help but be a little melancholy at this time of year.

Homemade Strawberry Shortcake

DIY Strawberry Shortcake

Summertime would not be as wonderful
if you didn't have this strawberry treat.
Filled with generous portions of sweet and tart,
it is the perfect dessert for a warm summer evening.

Check out the recipe below from The Kitchn

D.I.Y. Strawberry Shortcake

Biscuit
2 cups cake flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
2/3 cup cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

Strawberries
1 quart strawberries
1 lemon, zest & juice
1/4 cup sugar

Cream
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar (or to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of salt

Heat oven to 400�F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment. Sift the dry ingredients for the biscuits together, then cut the butter in and work in with your fingers until it's in pea-sized lumps. Beat the egg with the cream and vanilla and add. Work in just until the dough comes together. Turn out onto a floured countertop and cut into rounds. Bake for 10 minutes or until just barely golden.

Hull and chop the strawberries and macerate for at least an hour with the lemon zest and sugar.

Beat the cream until it holds soft peaks. Add the sugar, vanilla and salt.

To serve, split each biscuit into two and layer with strawberries and cream.
